Uh I don't see anything about Irdial being an artist. It says "people who are consistently producing" and I have to agree. Irdial pushes the envelope much further along than RDJ. Don't get me wrong. I bought Ventolin and dig it plenty but do you really think RDJ has progressed that much in the last couple of years? Ventolin dosn't have any newer ideas than the Caustic Windows (CAT4&CAT5). It's just much slower. My previous impression of Mu-ziq was very similar. The more I listened to Tango 'n Vectif, the more I felt it sounded sort of trite. Then I picked up Tuskan Raiders and gave him more credit. He had indeed progressed. I realize that the Bantha Tracks are not very electro but they are very good IMO. THEN I heard him play live - TWICE!! I am once again one of the devout. Irdial on the other hand is like a big finger in the face of commercial techno. It says "We're going to put out anything we damn well please because we don't give a shit about sales! We just want to do our thing so the rest of the world can fuck off!" Fortunately Irdial is damn good at what they do. I just picked up the 50th release CD comp and I'm pulling my hair out with frustration that I can't get the twelves. Timeless treasures those records. Wish I could find that Ramjac Corporation. Now THAT'S a fuckin' record! So please cut the RDJ is Miles crap. Miles is Miles and RDJ is RDJ. Richard has about 20 years of cult status to go before he can even touch an institution like Miles Davis. Richard James is a good electronic musician but Miles is a musical god.
